Projects
NIGHT BUS
Night Bus is a thrilling public transit simulator that puts you on the edge of the bus drivers seat! It's your first night on the job: Pick up passengers, take their fares, enjoy the beautiful countryside, and please ignore That Which Has No Eyes.
Developed as a short summer project, Night Bus was inspired by the studio’s shared love of PSX-style horror games and nostalgia for 90s New Zealand bus seat fabric.

Available now on Steam & Itch.io!

We've loved seeing people playing Night Bus on YouTube - check out the videos below, or our TikTok for more streamer reactions!
MISSION CONTROL: MARS
Mission Control: Mars is a thrilling, mixed-reality space adventure that puts the audience right in the middle of the story.
Adapted to be compatible with planetarium domes, 360° screen environments, or cinema theatres, players participate as the crew of a Mars habitat in the year 2034. Using individual consoles, crew members engage in co-operative games and solve digital puzzles to maintain the station.
Liquid Static Studio created the digital content and the software platform to enable this networked, multi-device, mixed-reality experience for HACKMAN, creators of the acclaimed Destination Mars and Apollo 13.
DESTINATION MARS
Destination Mars is the precursor to Mission Control Mars: an exciting mixed-reality interactive experience designed for all ages, made in Unreal Engine.

The show is a 360-degree dome projection, collaborative digital game and live performance come together to create an experience unlike anything else on Earth (or Mars).

The first season exhibited at Te Papa, the New Zealand national museum between December 2021 to June 2022, with a new season planned in 2023 for domestic and global audiences.
“An exciting dip into a bold new world of real-time, interactive theatre.”— The Dominion Post
COSMOFLORIST
Cosmoflorist is your chance to be a florist - on the Moon.

Enjoy a relaxing sci-fi gardening game: plant flowers, care for them, and arrange custom bouquets for your trusty partner, the Horticultural Assistant and Delivery System (H.A.N.D.S) to deliver across the galaxy as you enjoy your life listening to lo-fi music in space.

A team of friends (+ a cat) join forces to make cool and weird things.
We're an eclectic range of skills and personalities with a cat overlord:
the ideal form to bring to life your wants and needs.
IZZIE KIRKPATRICK
ART DIRECTOR + CONCEPT + UI
Thinks in pictures. Battles with pens (or paint, or crayons, or tomato sauce) to get them out.

Finds difficulty in the world and yells about it really loudly - which, funnily enough, lends itself well to solving UX problems and crafting elegant UI.
Not-so-secretly delights in purposefully confounding experiences too (read: loves pretentious media and abrasive aesthetics).
FRANCIS KIRKPATRICK
DESIGN DIRECTOR + SOFTWARE ENGINEER
The team’s Señor Programmer. A hunter of gordian knots, displays them as trophies on his belt.
Special ability: Team heart rate and blood pressure return to baseline on equip. Double chance of resolving tech obstacles as a free action.
Will work for collectible cards and plastic miniatures.
PEDRO KLEIN
CREATIVE DIRECTOR + TECHNICAL ARTIST
Our technical mastermind. Acerola's butler.

A lad from Brazil who hopped over to Aotearoa. Does all our maths and equations, juggling Excel as well as Unreal Blueprints. His brain works in dimensions we only see glimpses of.
That's why he can't remember anyone's names.
MICHAEL BRAAE
TECHNICAL LEAD + SOFTWARE ENGINEER
A programmer from the depths of JavaScript land.
"May pipelines be laid and the documentation be pure, for Dark Tidings grow in the commit history."

But primarily here to learn vector math and send memes.
SARA NOBLE
PROJECT MANAGER
A tetris whiz in both the physical and mental realms. Makes heading into the unknown as simple as packing the boot for a road trip.

Knows the secret extras to bring along in case of a breakdown (and where to hide them so the snacks don’t get eaten too early).
Pretty good at the stops too as she speaks most of the official and unofficial languages of Aotearoa (including Artist and Geek).
ACEROLA
SCAREDY-CAT + CHIRPBOT
Liquid Static's spiritual leader. Don't be fooled by her power stance: she can't even hunt an ant.

Her primary method of communicating is chirping. Any visitors are mandated to scratch her whiskers at least three times or will be politely asked to leave.

(Hasn't taken a shower in three years.)
